Genízara

Genízara- Original Print

This painting was inspired by my Indigenous Genízara/Genízaro ancestors who were enslaved in the southwest. I felt it was crucial to create a piece that honors their importance and sheds light on their untold stories. It’s important for me to document this history to share with my family and future generations and share it with a wider audience so that everyone can understand and appreciate this facet of our culture. Through this painting, I aimed to celebrate their journey of resilience, strength, and unique cultural heritage and to raise awareness about their struggles and triumphs since I wouldn’t exist today without them. Ultimately, this painting serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving cultural traditions and stories for future generations.

This artwork is printed using archival inkjet inks on Museum Grade Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Matte Fine Art paper made from 100% cotton. The print is vivid, detailed, and has a smooth felt structure. Each print is hand-signed and dated by the artist.

The print comes with a white border for framing. Framing is not included.
